One of my favorite weekend hang-out spots is Rootstock wine bar in Los Gatos. It’s perfect for a little afternoon snack and they have great patio seating. The wine bar itself is quaint as they only serve beer, wine and small plates but a great venue for a catch up sesh with friends or a romantic date with your guy/gal. I went there last weekend after strolling through the town, sat outside and enjoyed a couple of my go to appetizers. My favorite item is the beet salad {pictured above} which is a must try. It has yellow beets, goat cheese and arugula….and well, my second favorite is those green olives! I can’t get enough. If you’re in the area and get a chance you should check this place out. Enjoy this summer weather before it’s over.

Got juice?

I made such a yummy juice this morning. There was beets, kale, carrots, cucumber, ginger, grapefruit, lime and green apple. Who needs wine when you have juice? Ha, who am I kidding, I LOVE wine. Have you made any juice recipes that i should know about? It’s Friday which means a two day break AND the weather calls for sunshine?? Score! I don’t plan on doing much this weekend except hitting up the farmers market, getting a good workout in tomorrow and probably a little cooking/ baking for next weeks posts. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Just A Little Glimpse

Wowee! Is it me or did this 4 day weekend fly by? Between volunteering, Turkey Trot, and eating too much I am ready to get back into the grind. Don’t get me wrong, I love holidays but by the end of the weekend it seems like I overdid myself and need some reality in my life. This including a good workout. I woke up today feeling a little under the weather, but am determined to pump myself with some wheatgrass shots, vitamins, and lots of hot tea. I will NOT get sick! Here are some pictures from my Thanksgiving. As always, it was a great time cooking, chatting and enjoying time with family. There was an excess of veggies (obviously)- my cousin made the coconut shrimp, and a delicious butternut squash/quinoa dish (recipe to come). I made a beet salad, veggie saute, mushroom gravy, brussel sprouts annnnd pumpkin cheesecake. It was amazing. Believe it or not, there was even a Turkey! I hope you all had a great holiday, ate too much and are ready to get back into Monday! Another opportunity for a great week.

This weekend I am headed to Wine Country in Sonoma as well as spending the rest of Saturday and Sunday in beautiful San Francisco.  This will be my first time offically wine tasting…I know, I know. I don’t know what took me so long! Some friends are coming from out of CA and from Europe so it will be nice to spend time and reunite! The weather will be warm and sunny which will allow for the maxi dresses and tans to begin!

*Remember to hydrate! Here are some signs you should look out for:

  • Excessive thirst
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Dry mouth
  • Muscle weakness
  • Dizziness
  • Lightheadednes

These can all occur just to lack of H2o!  Have a great weekend everyone. Smile….It’s Friday!
